I thought I Had it Figured Out

Aren't there times in our lives when we think we have things all figured out? When I came here to OC I thought I had it all figured out I was going to major in Bible graduate and then get a job preaching. Well I guess God has other plans for me. I had been feeling like I was not meant to be a preacher for one reason or another it just felt like the wrong thing. I tried to supress this feeling because I thought well it is Satin trying to discourage me. Well after praying I think I have come to an understanding. You see I used to think that a minister was in some way a better servant of God. As Romans 12 points out to us I was wrong in this way of thinking we are all important to God and can make a difference in our own way. Give has given us each the gifts that he wants us to have in order to serve him. Next you feel like there isn't a way for you to be serving look around and I bet He is trying to show you one.

Turning The Other Cheek

My daily Bible reading today came from Matthew 5:38-42 the portion of the Sermon on the Mount when Jesus talks of turning the other cheek. In today's world of crime and suffering revenge is everywhere. I would venture to guess that at least half of the crimes committed today are some type of retaliation. If we live the life God has called us to live then we will not seek revenge but no that our offenders will recieve their punishment on the day of judgement. To break this idea down into a clearer picture let's look at it from God's prospective. We as humans anger God when we sin do we not? What if God decided to retaliate against us what would our lives be like? We would probably be nothing God would destroy us. Instead He extends grace to us and says my child I am here for you I love you regardless of your sin. While we cannot extend the same grace to our fellow humans what if we responded to hurt, injury, or insult by looking the other way and saying you have hurt me but I forgive you. Think of how different our world would be if only half of the world bought into this philosophy? Hope this is a blessing to those who read it. Have a great day everyone!

The Beggining

Those of you who know me know that from time to time I will post a scripture as my facebook status with some sort of small message that has impacted me that day. As I thought about this the other day I thought why not start a blog to share some of my thoughts not only on my adventures here at OC, but on the Bible in general. It seemed to be the least that I could do since I already have these thoughts in my head to put them on paper and maybe impact someone else's day or maybe even? (daring to dream a little there) So as often as I can I will share a thought or two about what I learned from my Bible class here or just the day in general. Hope this touches many people and is a blessing to those who read it.
